Sola Fide (Faith Alone)
This principle teaches that we are justified and receive salvation solely through faith in Christ as
Savior and Lord with repentance of sin. No human work, merit, or ritual can make us saved with
God. Faith in Christ is the means by which believers receive the salvation Christ has
accomplished. This results in salvation peace given by God.
Romans 5:1 Therefore, having been justified by faith (in Christ), we have peace with God
through our Lord Jesus Christ…
Faith carries no merit before God. We are justified by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ apart from
the works of the law (Romans 3:28). We are not saved by will power or good works, but we are
saved for good works (Ephesians 2:8-10). Saving faith is marked by knowledge of Christ through
Scripture, belief and assent to these truths in our minds, and Spiritgiven faith in our hearts in
Christ as our Lord and Savior.
Therefore, we live by faith in the Son of God, who loved us and gave Himself for us
(Galatians 2:20).
